Worked Example Screencast

Global Clean English Course

Dr. Hall suggested we create a worked example project that we can actually use, so I chose improving my Global Clean English training class that I present internally and to customers. Using GCE is a requirement of our customer (HP) and the course was created to train Lionbridge writers as well as HP internal technical writers.

As you can see the information, the student learns builds and then fades into practice sessions. Keep in mind that a large percentage of learners are not native English speakers and the course must pace accordingly.

The class is presented using Microsoft Communicator using ViOP technology, so it is seen and heard live presented in real time presently. I wanted to take the improvement of this course a step at a time because I must get approval from my company and HP. My goal is s each step is accepted, the e-learning techniques will be expanded. Demonstrating value-add is essential in this dollar-conscious business model between Lionbridge and HP. For the short-term, the course will be presented in a blended model with a facilitator and the narrated course. I will want to evaluate where the course will benefit from additional or less e-learning.

I created a digestible chunk of course material to get the gears grinding to demonstrate to superiors that e-learning is worth the effort and investment. I could, have added a lot more bells and whistles to the class (from what I learned this semester), but that was overload at this point. Keeping your learning audience and your authorization audience in mind is essential in the corporate environment.

Thanks for viewing my worked example.
